How you can make a sale without sales calls
My first sales call went like…
I used to do sales calls. I was scared – the talking was fine, but the money bit? It felt awkward.
But I realised I needed to do them if I wanted a business.
My first sales call for Career Pivot Pro was 90 minutes and the free version of zoom cut out part way.
I had a good chat but didn’t make a sale.
Here’s what I did next
So like anything I want to improve at – I practiced.
I got tips from Yinka Ewuola, I watched YouTube videos by Chris Do, and I spoke to pros like Ed Ampaw-Farr and Jaz Ampaw-Farr.
I thought more about how Career Pivot Pro helped people and how to describe it. I got out out of my own way.
I made my first sales to people who I approached (it was fine if they approached me). Sales calls became fun. I listened and asked questions. There was laughter and I got clients.
Why I chucked sales calls in the bin once I got good at them
I was on sabbatical. I was going to start my day job – it was 4 days a week but I’d still have less time.
I didn’t have time to do loads of sales calls AND my day job AND have a family time AND actually serve my Career Pivot clients.
So sales calls went. Chucked in the bin.
What I do instead
In came Google Docs.
I like writing so it seemed a good option – I got Jacob Pegs to teach me.
And just like that. No more sales calls. Byeeeeee.
I let people know about my services via writing and I sell via writing. Even got new clients via WhatsApp and Telegram. Text is my jam.
I only do sales calls with potential clients who have already agreed to buy and we are crafting a new service together. Just so it fits.
Love it to be honest.
I liked sales calls (eventually). But I like Google Docs better.
If you want to career pivot and love sales calls to chat first I’m probably not for you
but if you don’t… I’m happy to send a doc!
