Relationships at work are important (no not THOSE kinds of relationships!).

Do you have somebody who you bounce ideas off?

Is there somebody who you chat to about all things work and many things non-work?

Is there a person that other people in your organisation go to if they are looking for you?

That’s probably your work husband/wife/spouse.

It’s platonic though and if you have an actual spouse they generally think it’s amusing.

I’ve been lucky enough to have a work husband or wife at a few places I work. They make the day go faster and some have become long term friends.

Isolation makes people leave jobs. Connection makes it more likely for them to stay. Work spouses help with that.
