Prior knowledge can make us overcomplicate things. Keeping things simple often works too.

“Name three things found in Australia”

This was easy! My mind went straight to thoughts of koalas, dingos and kangaroos. I kept quiet though, it wasn’t my turn. The 7 year old went more fundamental,

“houses

people

spiders.”

She answered within 5 seconds and got the points for her round. I laughed and clapped and reflected that sometimes its easy to over complicate things. Maybe sometimes it’s better to start with no assumptions and no stereotypes, just keep it simple.
