I have two situations from my time as a leader that I regret.

They aren’t times I made mistakes.Too many of those to remember!

They aren’t about the times I missed targets. I learnt from those and got better.

Both are about how I treated people in my team and how a more experienced version of me would do it differently. In both situations, a dip in performance was almost certainly a result of very big shifts in their personal life and I didn’t pick up on that. I only concentrated on the performance.

Leadership is about people.

I learnt that anybody can be a good leader when things are going well. The real test is when things go wrong.
